Joe Vs The Volcano Author: Michael E. Matthews This is just a quick writeup on the map Note! First off I just want to remind everyone that this is not an official map release, however it was my only other close to finished duke3d map and with all the focus of my duke mapping being on another map that takes place in a moon like environment, and also considering that my other map will be my last for duke3d before I jump back to the unrealed stuff, I figured it was a nice enough map concept to be put into playible condition so for two days I did what I could to make it a fun all around map. Although its not complete in all cosmetic aspects it is fully playible and the sheer size of this map alone kinda pulls it out of any visual rutt. Story? Well I don't know if I can give you a story persay but here is what the map is about You start off at the base of a huge volcano and with the defense and resistance you face it will take you a while to reach the top. Be sure to check every level of this volcano for usfull items and keep your eyes open or you will never make it as this is a level with no difficulty settings and was intended for someone who has played duke3d and gotten at least halfway decent. When you make it to the top your mission is to just jump thats why I changed the name from mountian to Joe vs. the Volcano. The new area you find was created in the last 2 days along with the other fixes. I had to toy around with the fall sequence to make it look good, there is still a slight jolt though. Here are things that wernt done that I would normally put into a map to make it 100% the underground area has some lighting but the entire outside area remains evenly lit. Some textures in the more unoticible areas could use some aligning. many concepts for map expansion were possible. No seceret area messeges in places where there is a secret, no skill level adjustment lastly this map doesnt have the unessecary level of detail that I belive can really make a map great, perhaps not so unessecary, hehe. Statistics... Build time: Roughly just over 3 months or so. Extra Textures: No New sounds or Midi: No Difficulty Level: Non Adjustible,"If it were givin a single difficulty setting it would be "Damn Im Good"
