Newstuff.txt ---------------------------- * CONSTRUCTION * Build Time: About 4 1/2 weeks Editor(s) Used: Build, Dos-Edit, Editart Known Bugs: --- * DESCRIPTION * Well, this is my own twisted version of Capture the Flag. I would have made the original one, but this is as far as the .con allows me to go. What you have to do here, is to try to capture the flag in the middle and then run back to your base and place it. It includes 3 different types of flags. The explanation will bw provided in the Newstuff.txt file included within this archive. * INSTALLATION * Just unzip all the files included in this archive into your Duke3D directory. Also, make sure you back up your original .con and .art files, because this will overwrite all of them. Also, make sure your opponents are also have the EXACT SAME version of Duke CTF. * THE POINT OF THE GAME * There's a 50-50 chance you will be on either blue or red team. If you are on red team, you will get the message saying it AND your pants will be red. If you are on blue team, you'll get the message, and you will wear blue pants. Blue Team members currently carrying the flag will have yellow color of pants until they place the flag. Red Team members will have GREEN pants when carrying the flag. To place the flag, rush into your base, crouch, and hit space (be sure to select it in your inventory list). If you are on the Blue Team, and you placed the flag, the Blue Flag will appear. If you are on Red Team, red flag will appear. When you kill a carrier, he will drop the flag. Pick it up and rush into your base to place it. Red Base will have a red and yellow flickering "BASE" sign near its entrance. Blue Base will have a blue and yellow flickering "BASE" sign near entrance. ** Sometimes, all players can be in red or blue team. I don't know any workaround for this problem, it seems to me that this is as far as the game.con file can go. If you encounter this problem, then just kill yourself, and you have 50% chance to be on another team. When you decide to stop playing, count the number of flags in red and blue bases and if there are mor blue flags IN BLUE BASE, then Blue team wins. If there are more RED FLAGS IN RED BASE then Red team wins. If you see a red flag inside blue base, subtract 2 points from red team. If you see a blue flag inside red base, subtract 2 points from blue team. Each properly placed flag counts as 1 point. ** IF YOU SEE AN EITHER BLUE OR RED FLAG *OUTSIDE* A BASE, SUBTRACT 2 POINTS FROM THAT TEAM. THIS IS EXPLAINED IN THE WARINIG BELOW. IMPORTANT! READ THE WARNING BELOW!!! * WARNING: The game.con file, which is used to make all of this, does NOT allow you to place the flag ONLY in the base area, which means that you can place it just anywhere on the map. If you see the flag anywhere else than in bases, you'll know that your opponent(s) is/are cheating! This does not count toward them. To see if the cheater is blue or red, simply look at the flag's colors, and when you finished playing, subtract 2 points from that team. Also, when you have the nuke AND the flag, and you crouch and press space, you'll place the nuke instead of the flag. I did it because when I had bot the flag and the nuke and selected to place the nuke, it always placed the flag. This is happening again because of the limits of game.con, the functions seem to be hard-coded in the game's main executable itself. * NEW ITEMS * Read the "Newstuff.txt" file included in Duke Nukem 3D CTF archive. * MAKING YOUR OWN CTF MAPS * All information regarding this subject can be found in "CTFBuild.txt", which has also been included witin Duke Nuke 3D CTF archive. * REVISION HISTORY * Version 2.3 - First Public Release - Added another map, dukectf2.map - Updated the readme file Version 2.2 - Planned First Release - Never Released to the public - Rewrote most of the FLAG code and added the blue flag.
