Duke Nukem 3D .MAP Authoring Template v1.0 ====================================================================== Title : NUKED! (not naked, get your mind out of the gutter!) Filename : Nuked.zip |\_____nuked.map |\_____nuked.art |\_____nuked.txt (this file) \_____nuked.mid Website : http://ishmael.geecs.org/~nuked/ Author : Adam "CyberShoe" Schumacher Portions by : desertAngel Music : "Monster" by Gregor Rozman NOTE! : To make this work, you must rename the file "nuked.art" to "tiles014.art" in order to see the custom art. I strongly reccommend backing up your original tiles014.art file, if you have one. It is not necessary to have this file, but all the cool custom art will not be shown. There is also custom music included. Again, just rename "nuked.mid" to "dethtoll.mid" to hear the music, being sure to back up any previous copy of dethtoll.mid beforehand. ====================================================================== Description: Ladies and gentlemen, from the mapmaker that has brought you the new Duke3d paradigm of Speedball! comes the never before told story of what transpired between the time when Duke left the Abyss and arrived at the Polaris Outpost Spaceport... Polaris Outpost is the codename for all the early space colonization efforts by the EDF, which include the Spaceport, water management systems, fusion stations, and so on. The stations are connected by a complex teleportation net, that has allowed the attacking aliens full access to the entire system. After interfacing with the communications grid on the alien ship, Duke recieved this message from EDF command... --------------------------------------------------------------------- EDF Command, Security Clearance Delta Upsilon Kappa Epsilon Duke, there has been a breach of the teleportation systems throught the Polaris Outpost System. Aliens have overrun the Orbital Spaceport, and are spreading from there to the entire system. They have also overtaken reactor 15b, which supplies power to the teleportation grid. Your mission is to proceed to the teleport site on the moon, and from there, a transport will be waiting to take you to reactor 15b. You must destroy the reactor, cutting off the power to the teleportation grid. We hope that this will help contain the alien invasion within all Polaris Outpost sites. Once transportation between sites is cut off, our battle fleet should be able to clear up the alien troop carriers approaching earth. Once the power is off, we need you to mop up the aliens that have already penertated the Polaris Outpost complex. The U.S.S. Framerate will then be waiting to transport you back to the Earth Orbital Spaceport, where we have recieved reports of the heaviest alien concentrations. Good luck Duke, you will need it. END TRANSMISSION --------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional Credits to: desertAngel for testing and some mapmaking, Steve for beta testing, Gregor Rozman for the groovy musical score, everyone who had to put up with me while I was building this, Mom, Dad, Paige, and Rubble the Wonder Dog, Ken Silverman for making the kick-ass Build Engine, and everybody else who had input in this map. ===================================================================== * Play Information * Episode and Level # : User Map Single Player : YEPPERS! Dukematch : 2 - 8 players Dificulty Settings : Not implemented yet. Maybe if I get bored... * Construstion * Base : New level from scratch Editor(s) used : Build! What else? Known Bugs : As far as gameplay goes, I'm hoping that the map is pretty rock solid. If you want to pick it apart in Build, however, you should avoid the upper-left corner of the map. There was some hardcore corruption of the map a while ago, while I was still getting used to the Build engine. The remnants of the corruption have been quarantined to the corner of the map. Don't play with them please, they have been known to bite. Build Time : I have lost count. Probably about 60+ hrs. * Where to get this MAP file * The official Nuked! web site: http://ishmael.geecs.org/~nuked/ * Copyright Info * This map is (C)1997, 1998, 1999 Adam Schumacher. All Rights Reserved. Feel free to distribute this map, just make sure the art, the music, and this description are included. DO NOT MODIFY THE MAP IN ANY WAY! I spent way too much time making this thing work right to let people go screwing around with it. Although I fully support open source software, the FSF and the like, this map is more of an artistic creation to me, and I wish to keep it in it's original form. As well, I want to avoid fragmentation of the map to prevent multiplayer sync nightmares. (Not to mention the interesting "anomolies" in its construction that will give you a migrane that you wouldn't believe!) Just to prove that I'm not an inflexable bastard, If you want to use a portion of this map, contact me and we can work something out. ** DISCLAIMER ** This map and the accompanying files are provided AS-IS, with no warranties, guarantees, promises, or insurance of any kind, whether express, implied, or other.
