I. System Requirements
------------------------

Recommended System for smooth Hi-Res Gameplay:

	Pentium 133 MHz and up
	16 MB RAM or more
	2 MB VIDEO MEMORY
	60 MB HARD DRIVE SPACE FOR INSTALLATION
	40 MB HARD DRIVE SPACE TO PLAY

PLEASE NOTE: You will get slightly better performance if you run MERC 2 in
Real DOS Mode.


II. Installation Instructions
-------------------------------

MERC 2 must be installed directly into your existing Duke Nukem 3D directory.
Please follow the instructions below, based on the version of MERC 2 that 
you downloaded.


Windows Installation Instructions (Single Zip File) - M2FULL.ZIP:
----------------------------------------------------------------
    
    1) If you downloaded M2full.zip, the file contains an install program and
    should be extracted to a common temp directory. ie: c:\temp.

    2) From the Windows 95 desktop, click START, then RUN, then locate 
    M2setup.exe in the temp directory and double click on it. The install will
    then be started.

    3) Review the instructions on the first few screens. Click next to advance 
    through each screen.

    4) When prompted, locate the Duke Nukem 3D Directory that you would like
    to install MERC 2 into. This should be the same directory containing your
    duke3d.exe file.

    MERC 2 is now being installed on your computer. When the installation
    completes, if you are running Windows 95 or 98, you will have an Icon in 
    your Start/Programs Menu.

    If you are using Windows 3.1, no program groups are created. You can launch
    MERC 2 by running m2dos.bat from the duke3d directory that you installed
    MERC 2 into.


Windows Installation Instructions (Split Files) - M201.ZIP - M215.ZIP :
------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) If you downloaded the split file version of MERC 2, each zip file
    should be extracted to a common temp directory. ie: c:\temp.

    2) From the Windows 95 desktop, click START, then RUN, then locate 
    M2setup.exe in the temp directory, and double click on it. The install will
    then be started.

    3) Review the instructions on the first few screens. Click next to advance 
    through each screen.

    4) When prompted, locate the Duke Nukem 3D Directory that you would like
    to install MERC 2 into. This should be the same directory containing your
    duke3d.exe file.

    MERC 2 is now being installed on your computer. When the installation
    completes, if you are running Windows 95 or 98, you will have an Icon in 
    your Start/Programs Menu.

    If you are using Windows 3.1, no program groups are created. You can launch
    MERC 2 by running m2dos.bat from the duke3d directory that you installed
    MERC 2 into.


MAC/DOS Installation Instructions (M2MD.ZIP):
----------------------------------------------------------------
  
    Extract the contents of the zip directly into the the same directory as
    duke3d.exe (or comparable filename on mac). 

    To play MERC 2 on the PC version of Duke, run the m2dos.exe file. 

    If you are running MERC 2 on the Macintosh, drag "merc2.grp" and
    "merc2.con" onto the MacDuke icon.


HOW TO UNINSTALL MERC 2:
----------------------------------------------------------------

* Windows Un-Install:
  
    1. Run Add/Remove programs from the Control Panel in Windows.
    
    2. Locate MERC 2 in the programs listings, highlight it and 
    click add/remove.


* MAC/DOS Un-Install:
 
    1. Delete the files merc2.con, merc2.grp, m2dos.bat, m2doc.mrc,
    m2doc.wri, credits.mrc m2demo1.dmo, m2demo2.dmo, and m2demo3.dmo.
