Information

Rancor is a team competition mod for QuakeII.  I decided to build Rancor after discovering many flaws in the few teamplay mods there were out there for QuakeII.  Mike Judge and I built the team functions in less then a week, and now you have the most complete, and most featureful Teamplay mod for QuakeII.  It's constantly evolving, and the source is always available for each release.  (Betas excluded)

I personally find QuakeII teamplay to really be a step beyond Quake's teamplay.  Basically, with the weapon balancing, weapon dropping, physics changes, and communication options in Quake2(waves, points, salutes), it's a lot more suited for teamplay then Quake ever was.

If you ever have any suggestions for improvements to Rancor, please feel free to send me a note (notgod@notgod.com).  I want this to be the best Teamplay mod for QuakeII, and I really want it to be a community effort.

Features:

  1. Server configuration settings are set through a comprehensive configfile.  This allows for more flexability then SET variables, and allows for some functions to be loaded each map, and others to remain in memory between maps, and a fallback function to 'load server defaults' between maps.
  2. Teams are formed with 'team masters' that can control every aspect of their team, including adding players, removing players, locking out their team, and tons more!
  3. Admin functions built into the mod, allowing for realtime configuration changes, including timelimits on games, level warping, mode switching between FFA and Teamplay modes, and a lot more!  There are also options for electing admins.
  4. Level warping through voting, or admin functions.  The warpable levels are set by the administrator, in a configuration file.
  5. A complete team scoreboard that displays tons of information, including ping, frags, and deaths.
  6. Although in it's infant form, we are developing a menuing system to make the use of the game a lot better.  Keep looking at it for more features!
Thanks for checking out Rancor, and we hope you like it.
