Note: Don't even bother to install these if you are running resolutions below (640x480), they will work of course but be filling up your screen more than the ones that came with the game. Those sites are small ID has to (or assumed) that the majority would be running on a machine that would not be set on too high of a resolution. So they have to compensate for the masses. But I got tired of straining to see where the heck the site was and the guy that was trying to kill me. If you are tired of that too, then these "sites" are for you. I edited these sites for my personal taste, due to the fact that the only site that was worth anything was the "white crosshair", but that is my opinion, I couldn't see the "red dot" at all with a higher screen resolution (800x600) and a 3dfx card. The "angle"????? Come on, how the heck can you even stand the look of that let alone try to aim with it. So I got three nice sites here for you. To install these sites, you must first have some sort of Quake2 Pak editor. I recommend QPed which can be found in the editors section of PlanetQuake. Just put them in a "temporary directory" and use The Pak editor to install them. QPed is great, you just open up the "pics" folder which is located in the pak0 in the baseq2 folder and drag and drop them in!!!! Note: If you want to try the sites and are worried about messing up your old ones, don't worry, just rename the current "sites" which are ch1, ch2, ch3 (You guessed it, ch=crosshair) to: anything, but I recommend something rational like ch4, ch5, ch6. Then you can just drag and drop the new "sites" into your pics folder and don't forget to "save" on your way out the door, otherwise you won't get to play with your new toy :-). It takes a few minutes for the Pak editor to recompress and organize the new data so go get a soda and come back in couple. Close up you pack when the hourglass turns back to the pointer and Fire up the game and away you go!!!! Whatever you current cross- hair is set up as, that is what you will see on the screen. If yo don't like it and want to try the others, just type the following command at the console. Each command is for the different "sites" crosshair 1 (enter) (get rid of the console so you can see) crosshair 2 " crosshair 3 " If you like great!!!!! Happy fragging. If you don't like, go back into your pak0. and delete the new sites simply by clicking them and hitting delete feature of the Pak Editor. (QPed's is an X at the top). Don't forget to rename your other "sites" back to the original names and save on your way out. I am by no means any type of programer, just a screw-around-with-anything kind of guy. Just a word of advice, don't mess up anything in your pak0 files cause, you may have sounds or images missing if you accidently delete, rename, move...etc. So be careful and don't blame me. I ain't the one going in the Pak file and screwing around. Although you'll be amazed at all of the info stored in there and what how you can actually customize you game with the a Pak Editor. You'll find all of the Mortal Kombat wav files if you monkey around in your Arena folder. I even ex- ported them out and used them for my computer system sounds. Kind of funny when you get an error box and the computer says "Fatality". Oh well I guess I am now promoting the Pak Editor so I'll stop blabbing about it, just go get one and mess around. Its fun.
