Advanced Quake Model Editor 0.4 (BETA) ---------------------------------- This program will (hopefully) one day be an all round model editor for Quake. This is still only in the beta stage, probably earlier, and has only minor functionality, and will definately have more than a few bugs. This only runs on Win95/NT Email me with any ideas on what else to include, or suggestions, or anything. Just give me some sort of feedback. General Tips (stuff that is not really obvious): * the select connect thing selects all the vertices that are connected by triangles. eg. select the tip of the gun, push ], and the rest of the gun will be selected, allowing you to move and rotate just the gun. * when copying and pasting, it does not use the clipboard. When pasting the previously copied object, the vertices copied will be pasted onto the current frame. The thing you copied will not be added on to the model, just move around. Not a very good expalnation I know. Just try it. * The paste to range thing allows you to copy a part of a pose (eg the gun) and paste it to a range of frames. If the 'align to currently selected face' is checked, then it tries to rotate the copied bit to a correct alignment on each model. Select three point belonging to a single face before pasting it. It tries to use the orientation of this face to rotate the copied part. WARNING: this does not work very well, it only gives a rough approximation. * When panning the views, hold down the left mouse button to 'slide' the views about (or spin the model in the 3d case) and hold down the right mouse button to zoom in and out. * You can delete vertices. Any face that contains a deleted vertex will also be deleted. What is does not do (but may be appearing in the program): * Only allows vertex manipulation, no face or bones yet. bones will allow to rotate bones and it will move the vertices for you * You can create vertices, but not bones or faces. There is not much point to creating vertices, since you cant do anything to them. However, you can add and remove frames. * do not try and copy something from one model, load a different one, and then paste it in. * no help (yet). * does not edit skins (yet). * does not support client-side animation editing, ie groups of skins or models. The torch flames use this. * In the future, it will have its own format. This is mainly to store the bones and stuff, but also because the mdl files will lose resolution for large models.
