The second level, caverns.bsp is still in development by myself and may be 3-5 weeks before it is completed depending on how much real work I have. Therefore when you finish this map you will probably get something like 'file not found "caverns.bsp"' or something similar until you download the second installment.... Plot ===== The Strogg have built a Military Outpost with nuclear capabilities... See below) Single Player : Yes Co-operative 2-4 Player : 2 Players only (though not tested) Deathmatch 2-6 Player : Yes (likewise) Deathmatch 6+ Player : 7-8 DM starts (see above) Difficulty Settings : Yes New Sounds : No New Graphics : No New QuakeC : No New MDL's : No ================================================================ * Construction * Base : None Editor(s) used : Worldcraft 1.6a, MS Wordpad (for bug checks) Known Bugs : A whole damn lot of stuff disappears all over the place if you're running in software because the quake engine cannot handle the amount of faces present in some of the rooms in my level. This can result in walls, doors, exploding objects, trains and an all manner of other stuff disappearing making the level unplayable. If you're playing in openGL however NOTHING AT ALL disappears.. Build time : About 6 weeks (on and off - mostly off) * Compile info * Compile machine : P200MMX w/ 80MB RAM (3DFX Card) Brushes : About 3000 QBSP3 : 70 seconds Full VIS (Level 4) : 72730 seconds Extra Light : 22241 seconds ================================================================ * Additional Notes * - This level is for the Gl version of Quake2 only! It doesn't work properly in software. - When you are playing this level make sure you have 8-bit textures turned ON (YES) this drastically improves the frame-rate. - A few features I would have liked to included never made it into the map, like having huge flames coming out of the rockets when they took off :( sorry. - I want feed back on this map! Send all comments and suggestions to Birty@hotmail.com even if its just to say "I've played it" because I would like to know what I should do to improve my skills. - A simple point but nevertheless important- if its too difficult play on a lower skill level (PLEASE DON'T CHEAT). - The multi-player aspect of this map is not tested and as a result may not work :(. ================================================================ * How to play this map * Extract the .bsp and .txt file to Quake2/baseq2/maps (Create this directory if it doesn't exist. Run Quake2, pull down the console with the ~ (tilde) key and type "map moutpost". "Easy" skill setting is ment for novices/newbies. "Medium" caters for the average Q2 player.
