Oz Deathmatch v 1.0 http://quakestyle.telefragged.com/oz/index.htm Oz is a server side multiplayer mod for Valve's Half Life. No files are necessary for clients to play. Simply log onto an Oz server. Oz features an immense amount of customizability due to the use of .ini files. What are .ini files you ask? Well .ini files provide the server with an easy way to change many things in the dll without the source code and the knowledge to program. Simply change the values in the Oz.ini file and restart the server to have them take effect. Many things can be changed, from the damage of the all the weapons, to the amount of ammo you can carry. Other things include the ability to disable/enable weapons in your server, or to select what each player should start with in their inventory. All standard features of Half Life are supported, except single player. Additionally, Oz has an offhand grappling hook, used with the command, "+hook". Simply bind this to a key once you join a server. Note: the secondary fire mode of the Glock now puts a silencer on the gun instead of the inaccurate, 2x firing rate. Note: the included oz shortcut probably needs to be modified based on your system (IF you want to use the shortcut). Currently, it will look for the hl.exe in c:\sierra\half-life. Just right click the shortcut and pick properties, than edit the command line for hl.exe. Everything else in that line MUST stay the same, otherwise the mod will not be loaded. If this mod was installed through half life, you can "activate" it on the custom game menu. Example of the .ini file: ========================== [Weapons] crowbar=25 glock=12 mp5=12 ========================== Under the [Weapon] are 3 variables. Let's say this section denotes the damage amounts for each weapon. Just change the numbers as you see fit and when you start or restart the server the weapons will use the new values. Another example--> weapon disabling: ========================== [Disabled Weapons] mp5=0 gauss=1 egon=1 ========================== This section is a tad different. Instead of defining amounts of damage, this is just a toggle variable. If you set it to 0, like the mp5 above, the weapon is as normal in the game. If, however, you set it to anything else greater than 0, the weapon is COMPLETELY disabled from the game. It will not spawn. What to look for in future releases: (remember, this is a beta) -more options like adjustable rates of fire and new fire modes. -offhand grappling hook -fix the magazine bug with the shotgun and rpg -fix the original bug with Half Life where a rocket, when spun around in the air by moving the laser sight in a circle, would explode and then not reload. For some reason the game thinks the rocket is still flying and will not let you reload. The bypass to the bug is to toggle the laser off with the secondary fire key, then turn it back on after the rpg has reloaded. Questions? Comments?
