"After not having released ANYTHING Duke related for about 2,5 years, I decided to make a come-back with this level. I must say that making a tropical map like this in the sun with a laptop is something you must be priviledged for, I guess. Ha-ha! What the name is about? Well, it's a dreamy map with water, what else were you expecting from it? (OK, so I took it from Richard Wright's 1978 solo album) I hope you'll have fun with this new map, and be sure to play Tropical Alien Massacre if you have missed it. It's one of my best levels ever. Release date: 10-05-2003. God, it already has been three years since I released that... So many things have changed! In case you're wondering where City Terror 2 is, the map is long done. It just needs someone who will use all these new funky 3d modeling things that has been spawned since late 2003. I'll get back onto that." ====================================================================== Title : Sun Burn Episode (Wet Dream (Including Tropical Alien Massacre)) Filename : sunburn.zip (sunburn.grp, sunburn.con, sunburn.txt, sunburn.bat) Author : Rob Wijkstra (HighWire) E-mail : Rob_Wijkstra@hotmail.com Description : 2 Level episode with one completely new level (Wet Dream) and the re-release of Tropical Alien Massacre Additional Credits To : James Stanfield - Advice and help on several textures & Beta test Ryan "Quakis" Rouse - Advice, Final Beta Test, several textures Everyone at AMC, people who always have been there such as James, Rusty, Geoffrey, Eralp, Quakis, Oostrum Brothers, Sang, people from the past such as Amund, "The Gangster", Arcza, & Diaz! Don't get jaleous if you're not in though, because most appearing members are targeted for ridicule! ====================================================================== * Play Information * Single Player : Yes DukeMatch 2-8 Player : Yes (Added them in the final BUILD session! Oof!) Cooperative 2-8 Player : Yes (Added them in the final BUILD session! Oof!) Plutonium Pak Required : Yes New Art : Yes New Music : Yes New Sound Effects : Yes New .CON Files : Yes Demos Replaced : No ===================================================================== * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Level Editor(s) Used : BUILD Construction Time : Less than a week Known Bugs/Problems : The map is all clean as far as I know. The elusive yellow-keycard-door bug in Tropical Alien Massacre has been fixed as well now. ===================================================================== *Important Information* Installation : Extract this zip file inside your duke3d directory and simply run the sunburn.bat batch file Start a new game and select the Sunburn episode (Replacing LA Meltdown) Important Notes : Be sure to turn off anything Hi-res related. This map hasn't been made to support the Hi-res pack, and will probably look messy. Then again, it may not. Suit yourself. I'm not giving out support to Hi-res users, but if it looks good then may god/allah/buddha/muhmuzuki/sang bless you! The map should theoretically play in the original DOS version of duke as well, though I advise you to upgrade to the Win32 JonoF port or Eduke32. JonoF Duke3d: http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.php?p=jfduke3d Eduke32 (TerminX his monster, elevating Duke3d to greater heights): http://www.eduke32.com/ The music that can be heard in the bar is an excerpt from one of my own written songs: Camoli, which can be fully listened to on my acidplanet.com account along with my other tracks: http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=406328&T=4927 In case you are wondering what the hell AMC stands for, visit www.planetduke.com/amc Also, visit www.chromosome-band.tk if you're interested in my other musical projects. Dukematch/COOP notes : In order to play the levels online or on LAN, you're going to have to use the KEXTRACT.EXE utility that is on your duke3d CD. (Most cases D:\GOODIES\BUILD) Place KEXTRACT.EXE in your Duke3d directory and run the following command (preferably in a command or DOS window): KEXTRACT SUNBURN.GRP *.* Then, you simply must make a backup out of USER.CON (I prefer USER.BAK) and rename SUNBURN.CON to USER.CON. When finished, remove TAM.MAP, WETDREAM.MAP, TILES014.ART, TILES015.ART, 2BWILD.VOC, and restore USER.BAK back to USER.CON There is another solution involving command lines, but if you are not a real expert at running Duke mods, I just suggest you use this rough method to ensure nothing will go out of sync. If you ARE an expert at that command line stuff, then I wouldn't have to write a guide for you because you'll be fine. ===================================================================== Initially written on 09-07-2006 & edited on 22-07-2006 Map finished on 23-07-2006 Despite it being a dramatic and long-written txt file, it is not an announcement of department from the duke3d community! Let's just place another 10 years on top of this!
