TOON2B - 32 single-player levels for Doom II v1.9 This is a slightly updated version of TOON2.ZIP Original author: David (Pepe) Hopkins 2 odd1@wport.com Version 'B' Update: Sparky of KISS Software kelm@eisa.net.au Mods made by Sparky of KISS Software: - converted the DeHackEd patch to Patch Format 6 for compatability with many Doom Source Ports (the original used Doom2 v1.666 and DeHackEd v2.2). - repaired the three textures which were causing the game to crash (aliens, bruce and dave). - removed all the programs and files for use with 'Plain Vanilla' Doom2. There's only 4 files now: toon2b.deh toon2b.wad toon2b.txt and manual.wri. Note: this update is aimed at users of Doom Source Ports, but if you prefer to use 'Plain Vanilla' Doom2, see the instructions below. - appended the text file for Tails Doom (tails.txt) to the end of this document. - rebuilt the wad file - added the correct start/end markers, sorted the resources, and cleaned the wad of wasted space. - fixed a few texture alignment problems on map01, added missing exit switch on map02, added door tracks to map03, rebuilt the nodes on all 32 maps to remove some HOM errors. - removed the "finished" text from the end-of-level screen (it covered the stats due to the large level-name graphics). - added a little lmp demo of MAP01 using 'Plain Vanilla' Doom2 v1.9 The demo also tested okay with: Boom v2.02, PrBoom v2.02, MBF v2.03 and PrjDoom v0.1 The demo did not work with: ZDoom v1.22 and Legacy v1.30 To play TOONS2 with 'Plain Vanilla' Doom2: - create a replacement .exe file using toon2.deh and DeHackEd v3.1. For example: dehacked -load toon2.deh - add the extra sprite graphics to toon2.wad using a program such as DeuSF, WinTex, NWT, etc. For example: deusf -as toon2.wad A MUCH better option is to use a Doom Source Port that can import DeHackEd patches and pwads containing sprite graphics, such as: Boom, PrBoom, MBF, PrjDoom, ZDoom, Legacy, etc. Patching is not required with these ports, just load the files as-is. For example: Boom/MBF/PrjDoom/ZDoom: -deh toon2 -file toon2 PrBoom: -width 800 -height 600 -deh toon2 -file toon2 Legacy: -deh toon2.deh -file toon2.wad Note, TOON2B will not work with: - SMMU v3.21 - the chainsaw causes a crash - Vavoom v1.3 - only partial DeHackEd support - ports that don't have DeHackEd support, such as: DosDoom v0.653b, Edge v1.24, JDoom v0.81, and many others.
