================================================================ Title : ALIEN INVASION 1.1 (Please delete previous version of ALIENV) Filename : alienv_xx.zip Author : John Diamond Email Address : jkdiamon@ssa.gov Misc. Author Info : What? Description : Second release of total conversion patch, rebuilt levels, new graphics and effects. There are some vast improvements over the first release, which should be seen immediately. Foremost are the aliens themselves, which have reworked graphics and behavior patterns which make them more real then ever. Warriors now attack in different ways, which is much cooler, because it looks kind of stupid when they always bite you the same way, especially when there are ten of them at the same time that are attacking you. Sometimes they run across the ceilings(those graphics where redone better this time too) and hang on walls. Sometimes they will claw you and sometimes they will bite. The queen has been redone a bit as well as some of the weapons. The levels have been extensively rebuilt, using much more real logic then before(no more ammo lying around unless there is a body next too it, etc...) and several have been replaced by much better(and bigger) levels. There were some sound bugs before(marines making alien sounds) that have been fixed too. These maps are based on a structure that centers around a landing pad area, sort of like in Aliens-TC, since it is on the same colony after all. You will begin at ground level, mostly to power up certain systems and locate the main elevator shaft, which you will use to penetrate the lower levels where the reactor resides. While in the upper levels, you will need to retrieve as many weapons as possible and any access keys that may be neccessary to access the reactor. Once you have destroyed the complex, you will then locate the abandoned alien ship that had all those eggs to begin with and destroy it as well. These levels can be tough, and more unpredictable then before. So here is a rundown of each level - if you feel the need to know what you are doing and where you are supposed to be going.... Level 1: Refinery - You begin at the landing area and will enter a subteranean building to the west of the pad(directly ahead of you). Here you will try to locate the main computer systems and bring them up online. Level2: Medlabs - After exiting from the main switching station, you find yourself adjacent to the operations building, directly to the north of the refinery. You must return to the main landing pads, which circle around the building to the north. Along the way you may need to seal off areas where xenomorphs are hiding because you won't have much ammo yet. Level3: Main Storage - Look for weapons and ammo... Work your way north to find the main elevator shaft. Level4: Operations - Search for central power switch, and activate elevators. Exit through the flooring to get to the lower levels where the main shaft is. Level5: Operations: Lower Level - Return to elevator shaft. You will begin On the east end of the structure where there are some hydro-ducts for the reactor cooling system. The elevator shaft is to the northwest and the landing pads directly to the west. Level6: Air Ducts - Locate access keys to reactor level. You begin at the shaft, the ducts are to the north. The keys are lying next to the dead guys who got wasted by the aliens. Of course you gotta find the dead guys. Level7: Reactor - Locate reactor(marked by red square) and shut of cooling system. Again you begin at the elevator shaft, at the very bottom level. Its a bit grungier than above, and their are lots of places for xenomorphs to hide. Level8: Derelict Ship - Kill everything in it and activate self destruct. Level9: What, you expected to live? Installation : Type 'install'. Additional Credits to : Id software, the makers of the previous aliens conversions in which I have borrowed graphics from(Aliens-Tc and AliensDoom - see below) and modified, Ben Morris for DCK, which is the best editor IMHO, and Greg Lewis for Dehacked, which I could not live without. Wintex 4.1 also proved to be an invaluable too as well. Many of the graphics and sounds have been derived from earlier conversions and modified or left intact. Mostly I modified the aliens(using Corel Photopaint - and taking forever - if I only knew that the original 3-d meshes were available at the time ;) The original alien sprites were created by David Lobser for AliensDoom, the weapons and some wall patches by Justin Fisher for Aliens-Tc, and the flamethrower by the Innocent Crew. ================================================================ * Play Information * Episode and Level # : MAP01-9 Single Player : Yes-probably best for this cuz its scary...
