Monday 3rd February, 1997 ================================================================ Title : DCDM5a Filename : dcdm5a.bsp Author : Dario Casali Email Address : dario@casali.demon.co.uk Homepage : http://www.casali.demon.co.uk/dario/home.html Description : This is the fixed version of DCDM5. You don't get stuck on doorways and the sloping floors don't slow you down any more. A couple of other tweaks. It's compact but spacious, holds anything up to 20 players, but 12 comfortably. There are two levels - ground and upper. All start points, weaponary and ammo are at ground level, all health and artefacts are on the upper level. I've also dispersed ammo around so that you don't get ammo for the weapon in the same area, ie. you won't find many nail packs near the nail gun. This is to get people on the move and to avoid a stronghold position where one person can dominate. The basic idea is to grab a weapon or two and head for high ground to pick off the others who are trying to get up. There are two ways to get to the upper level, so easily guarded. I haven't put the 200% armour in because I don't like that in deathmatches. Everything else is there. A very nice team game could be for teams to hold the upper level as long as possible. The level runs very smoothly due to a restrained amount of detail, so is internet-friendly. I have also added lots of clipping brushes so you don't get stuck on any sharp corners. The slime in this level doesn't hurt you, but it looks nice. Additional Credits to : Yahn Bernier for BSP - a very good editor : Steve Polge for the Reaper - Nice target practice. Info about the Author : I recently graduated from Oxford University and created Doom levels for three years before converting to Quake. I enjoy nothing more than toasting all other players in deathmatches inside my own levels. No-one I have ever met can beat me in my own level (har har...) Other Levels by Author : 16 levels in The Plutonia Experiment, Final Doom. 4 levels in Evilution, Final Doom. Over 50 levels for Doom and Doom2, inlcuding "The Punisher" and "Thebest" deathmatch levels. For Quake : DCDM1, DCDM2, DCDM3, DCDM4, PRODIGY1, PRODIGY2:EBONY SHRINE Author's plug : I've just joined a formidable new games company that will be making games with the Quake2 engine, so if you like this level, look out for Valve Software. ================================================================================= * Play Information * Single Player : To look around Cooperative : No Deathmatch : Yes (6 starts) * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Editor(s) used : BSP latest release.
