Comments : I had just started playing QuakeWorld fairly regularly(read: two hours a day) when I realized how cool it would be to play some DooM levels on the 'Net. I know that ZDooM supports 'Net play, but it's a pain. QuakeWorld is very easy. Originally, I'd planned to convert all of DWELLER1.WAD and release it as an episode, but doing the converting took longer than I thought so I decided to release them one at a time. This way, I also won't be obligated to convert another level from Dweller if I feel like doing something else. I think my first attempt turned out rather well, don't you? I tried to be as accurate as possible, so everything is perfect down to the pixel, as will be the case with all future releases. The one place I didn't quite do as well as I wanted to is in the lighting department. I have to say that lighting is deffinately the hardest part of MAP building, but I did the best I could. There are a few textures that I didn't convert because I didn't want to mess with splitting up the brushes. Can you find them? Just something to do if you get tired of killing your friends. Unless you're looking you won't notice it. Some advice. Use GLQuake, because of my lack of lighting experience. In normal Quake(even in hi-res) you can pinpoint the lightsources, but GLQuake blends light much better so you don't see rings of any sort. Enjoy! * Construction * Base : DWELLER1.WAD MAP01 for DooM2. No base for the Quake MAP and no rotten converters, either! Build Time : Three weeks. Don't even think about mailing me something like "we want to include your work on our CD, if you don't reply until a certain date we will take this as your permission"! Don't laugh, I've seen this before... Sorry if the above sounds a bit harsh, but I don't want any level-author to be screwed by CD publishers like Actura again. Most companies are fair, and if you are one of these companies don't hesitate to e-mail me for further distribution information. * Distribution * You are welcome to freely distribute Dweller One on a non-commercial base, provided you do not change anything and leave the ZIP intact. That includes the Internet, FIDO etc. - every media that can be accessed without paying for it. =======================================================================
