This is our first attempt at programming for the public of any real sort so be gentle. For those whose curiosity is peaked by UNION there will be a homepage as soon as I have time. The Mod replaces the 666 Armour with the Forcfield model. To cheat err... test the mod out here are the impulses Impulse 50 --> Cycles FF on/off Impulse 51 --> Give player the FF (bad..bad. Very bad) How to Install the Modification ------------------------------- Unzip "ffield.zip" into your quake directory, taking care to retain the directory structure. From there simply type "quake -game union" and watch those cells disapear... Technical Details ----------------- The Forch Field model was created from scratch using Breeze Designer 2.0 and a DFXto3DS prog THAT WOULD NOT RUN IN REAL MODE! Pardon my fustration. I now have 3DStudio and the doctors say all I need is peace and quiet. (and the medication...) Versions, Bugs and Ummm features -------------------------------- Union Ffield Version 0.4 - FF now replaced 666 armour. - Added some sounds. - Added BF when overloaded or hit. - Changed model to use the ffield.mdl - Changed the effect on player to DIMLIGHT. BRIGHTLIGHT was just a bit too much... 8^) Things to do... - Find the all the particle spawns and rewrite for the FF - HTH still spawns blood. Need to change the monster.qc files. - Increase the size of the Ffield .mdl a bit. Known Bugs... - Using the lightning gun with the FF can make the cell count loop. - Caching problem with "protect.wav" that will be promptly be hunted down. (happens when you pick up th ffield) Union Version 0.3 Force Field Progress so far... - Bind a key to impulse 50 to use - Takes 1 cell to cancel 5 damage - Creates a glow around the player when active - Shows messages to the player (on, off, depleted, overload) - Used 1 cell per second to maintain - Overloads when hit with 100+ damage. Player loses item. - Don't use it in water (I warned you...) - 1 point / cell bypasing the field. - FF is now an item. It will replace the 666 armour, eventually. - Player loses it when it's overloaded. - Spawns particles when hit. Things to do... - Find out why I can't get the particle colour to change. - Fix HTH so that blood isn't spawned when FF is hit. - Insert sounds. - Change 666 armour.mdl for the field.mdl - Lose item when short out in water. Union Version 0.2 Force Field Progress so far... - Bind a key to impulse 50 to use - Same key for on and off - Type "give c 100" at console to give yourself 100 cells - Takes 1 cell to cancel 5 damage - rounded up: i.e. 2 cells for 6 damage - Creates a glow around the player when active - Good as a flashlight too... 8^) - (Probably too bright?) - Shows messages to the player - Just turned on: "Force Field Activated..." - Just turned off: "Force Field Deactivated..." - No cells left: "Force Field Depleated..." To do: - 1 cell per second to maintain - Borrowing code from the superhealth part? - Force Field Overload? - Other ideas? Source code is included along with the progs.dat file.
