The real story is epic, encompassing hundreds of characters on many different planets and locations, with hundreds of different twists and turns, all winding together for one unforgettable conclusion. I would print it here, but your hard drive probably isn't big enough... Playing the Game: You start the game with your trusty Pumpkin' Smashin' axe, and a burning desire to rid the world of all pumpkins. Press the '8' key to go into pumpkin grabbing mode. Just hold down control and point at a pumpkin to pick one up. Once you have one in your grasp, continue holding down control while you wind up to chuck the pumpkin. Aim, and release. The pumpkin will go soaring through the air until it reaches it's destined target whereupon it will smash (if you threw it hard enough). Note how the pumpkins go thru different frames of damage depending on how much you beat them. You may also use pumpkins to hurl at other players and enemies. Mission 1: Smash Pumpkins Enter Farmer John's pumpkin patch and smash his pumpkins. Watch out, farmer John doesn't like people messing with his crops... Missions 2-99 - under construction. Here's the real info: Anyway, SPISPOPD is based on an old, old joke that someone made with Doom, that Id should make the name longer so that it was harder to talk about or something. Unfortunately, my SPISPOPD FAQ got deleted, so if someone still has a copy, I'd be really happy if you sent it to me. This patch is the result of a few days of hard work (not that much, really) and I just decided to finish it up. I think you'll find it's fairly fun to play. I also included some code I wrote for ducking monsters - you'll notice the farmer ducks your pumpkins and nails. I had planned on adding some different kinds of pumpkins/gourds, like those really big pumpkins, exploding jack-o-lanterns, and possibly a pumpkin boss or two. I might, if this patch becomes popular, but otherwise don't count on it. NOTICE: Do NOT use any of the work contained in this patch in your own projects. It's MINE! If you want use some of it, or maybe make a new SPISPOPD level for me (which I may use in an update to this patch) then e-mail me. Shameless plug: Our group needs people! We need mappers, artists, and maybe programmers. Basically everything. If you are skilled and want to be a part of our fun-loving group, then e-mail me. We are the people that made Aliens Quake (now defunct), the Omen TC, and we are working on Omen 2 which will have a lot of the stuff Omen was lacking (multiple character classes, better levels, RPG elements, more monsters, ect). Oh, and while your at it check out Omen! If you like SPISPOPD, please e-mail me! It's the least you can do for all my hard work. :) dwallin@juno.com
