Mercer (the_DM {GUN}) rmercer1@mindspring.com Model Design Nathan G. Grennan ([GTR]Climber) and Additional ngrennan@okcforum.org Credits: Chris Jones ([GTR]DarkVein) chris@pdq.net Quake Version: 1.06 Registered CTF Version: 4.21, Normal and QuakeWorld Homepage: http://loc.gamesnet.net/ctfplus =============================================================== *************************** NOTICE **************************** If you received this patch as part of the AllStar CTF patch on the PC Gamer CD-ROM, there is a slim chance that the QuakeWorld version of CTF+2.0 was not included. If this is the case, goto http://loc.gamesnet.net/ctfplus to retrieve your copy of CTF+2.0 that contains the QuakeWorld code. *************************************************************** Description =========== This patch does the following: ] Adds visible weapons. Players will need the CTF+ ClientPak for this to work. When active, you will be able to see the weapon a player currently has selected. Admins can enable this option. ] Adds Competition Mode, which is similar to ClanRing. When active, players will be able to change maps, start/stop games, select teams, etc. This mode is menu driven and is perfect for clan matches. ] Adds camera code to allow observers to become cameras. Players can choose who to "cam". Admins can disable this option. ] Makes powerups toss when a player dies. This affects: quad, envirosuit, and invisibility. Admins can disable this option. ] Allows you to shoot certain projectile weapons, items, heads and gibs through teleporters. ] Allows gibs and heads to float in, and on, the water. ] Allows windtunnels to affect objects other than players. This will permit gibs, runes, and backpacks to be "pushed" through a windtunnel. ] Allows players to easily hook into windtunnels. ] Modifies the Lightning Gun to no longer kill players not in the water when discharging. ] Modifies the Lightning Gun to do a small amount of damage to players in the water when shot into the water. Only works if you are NOT in the water when you shoot the Lightning Gun. Otherwise, you'll discharge and are toast. Players that are unfortunate enough to be in the water when you shoot will emit two bubbles per point of damage taken. ] When falling, causes players to take a variable amount of damage depending on the distance fell. ] Prevents weapon switching when picking up packs. ] Adds admin code for: Weapons Disable ] Adds Rune tossing via impulse 26. Runes can only be tossed once per life. Admins can enable this option. ] Adds Oxygen meter display when players are underwater. ] When a player dies, their weapon will be tossed seperate from their pack. ] Packs, weapons, and runes are now respawned/removed after 1 minute instead of 2. ] Takes advantage of GLQuakeWorld colored lighting. ] Various CTF enhancements to make the game even more enjoyable. The following weapons can be teleported: Nail Gun, Super Nail Gun, Grenade Launcher, and Rocket Launcher. The following items can be teleported: Backpacks, Gibs, and Runes, and all Weapons. QuakeWorld Notes ================ None of the CTF+ observer or admin modifications exist in the QuakeWorld version. Client Installation CTF ======================= The CTF+ ClientPak contains several files that need to be extracted to your CTF directory. Your CTF directory is specified by the "-game" parameter when launching Quake. Make sure to preserve the directory structure when extracting, so all the files go where they are supposed to. This is accomplished by using the "-d" parameter when using PKUNZIP. The CTF+ ClientPak is only required if the CTF+ server has the pak enabled. Teamplay #4096 enables the pak on the server. In addition, you will need the ThreeWave CTF client-side software as well. If you need assistance with installing the ThreeWave CTF client software, please refer to the SERVER.TXT file for more information. Server Installation CTF ======================= If you already have the ThreeWave CTF server installed on your machine, you merely need to copy the PROGS.DAT or QWPROGS.DAT file into your CTF server directory. You will also need to install the CTF+ ClientPak. Please refer to "Client Installation CTF" section of this documentation for further information. If you don't already have the ThreeWave CTF server installed on your machine, please refer to the SERVER.TXT file for installation instructions. Server Notes ============ To activate any of the teamplay options, take the corresponding number (ie. 4096 for visible observers), and add that to your existing teamplay value. For example: teamplay = 1024. To activate Competition Mode, teamplay would be 1024 + 4096 = 5120. Here is a listing of the TEAMPLAY options CTF+ adds: (* = not available in QuakeWorld version) 4096 Show Weapons. Requires the use of the CTF+ ClientPak. Allows players to see the weapons other players currently have selected. *8192 Competition Mode. Used in conjunction with teamplay #1024. Players will connect as observers and then, using menus, join a team, change the map, vote, start/stop games, etc. Perfect for clan matches. *16384 Don't allow observers to become cameras. 32678 Disable weapon teleportation. 65536 Allow rune tossing. When enabled, players can toss their rune (only once per life) via impulse 26. *131072 Disable Powerup Tossing. By default, powerups are tossed when a player dies. Here is a listing of the admin impulses CTF+ adds: (only available in non-Quake World version) 158 Disable weapons and pickups. When active players will not be able to fire any of their weapons. Players will also not be able to pick anything up. This includes flags, weapons, runes, armor, ammo, and everything else. Other Notes =========== This is probably the last release of CTF+ for Quake & QuakeWorld, with the exception of a possible maintenance release. The reasoning is Quake II. Known Problems ============== None at this time. Finally.
