1.   What is Sven Co-op?
SvenCo-op is a modification that allows co-operative multiplayer in Valve's Half-Life (where the players fight together against monsters/etc.). It also adds some features too make co-op play more interesting.

Before running SvenCo-op, make sure that you have the latest version of Half-Life!  You can get it by using Sierra's AutoUpdate feature (load Half-Life, click Configuration, then click Update), or by downloading the latest patch from a good Half-Life site.

3.   Installation and Configuration
Extract the ZIP or self-extracting ZIP (EXE) file to your Half-Life\ directory (e.g. c:\sierra\half-life\ ). A directory named "SvenCoop" will automatically be created.
If using pkzip or similar to extract the files, make sure that Directories are enabled! (People using programs such as WinZip need not worry about this).

To use your normal Half-Life settings in SvenCo-op, copy the file named "config.cfg" from your Valve\ directory to the SvenCoop\ directory.

After (or instead of) that, load Half-Life, and activate SvenCo-op by clicking Custom Game, selecting SvenCo-op from the list of mods, clicking Activate, and clicking OK.
There are some new commands to bind keys to! To do this, click Configure, then Controls. Set up the key config as in normal Half-Life.
You should also go to Multiplayer / Customize to choose your name and player model.

4.   Starting or Joining a Co-op Game
Firstly, activate SvenCo-op in the manner described above. After that, beginning or joining a co-op game is exactly the same as beginning or joining a deathmatch game (use the Multiplayer menu). If you join a server, it must also be running SvenCo-op, of course.

5.   Playing Off-Line
Start a single-player game as if it were a LAN game. Go to Multiplayer / Lan Game / Create Game. Select the map you want to play, then click OK. A few maps are not playable by a single player, but there are single-player versions of most of those maps. Co-op maps are primarily designed for multiple players, so many maps may be far too hard in single-player.
