====================================================================== JakFrost's Raindance Demo 7 ====================================================================== Date Recorded: 1999-10-28 13:49 UTC Game Name: Starsiege Tribes Game Version: 1.9 Demo Time: 2 minutes Mission Type: Capture The Flag Mission Name: Raindance Player Name: JakFrost Email: jakfrost(at)planetstarsiege(dot)com Website: http://www.planetstarsiege.com/tactical/ Tactic Credit: KillaZ and Imperial Elite Tribes Displayed Tactics: Turret Setup ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Description ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This demos shows how to setup a 6-turret defense inside the base on Raindance. This turret setup is effective against intruders however some of the turrets in this setup are vulnerable and can be easily destroyed by incoming attackers. The turrets which are just below the front entrance are especially vulnerable because an incoming attacker usually drops a mortar or a grenade down the hatch before entering the base thus they would destroy both turrets below in one shot. Also team members will shoot at an incoming intruder who drops down the entrance thus themselves damaging the turrets and possibly destroying them every time that an intruder enters the base. The two turrets on the lower level are positioned very close to each other and a single mortar that would happen to fall there would destroy them both. Even though this turret setup uses 6-turrets to defend the base the position of these turrets is not very optimal due to the fact that the turrets are so exposed and so closely placed together. I would recommend that the turret setup in the Raindance Demo 2 be used instead of this one as that setup spaces the turrets out proportionally and does not make the turrets exposed or vulnerable to friendly fire. The credit for this turret setup goes to the KillaZ and Imperial Elite tribes whom I first observed in a demo using this setup during one of their matches. Also, I would like to point out the fact that one of the reasons why I recorded this demo was because I wanted to give something back to the viewers who have viewed the Raindance Demo 3 with the 6-turrets inside which was recorded with Tribes 1.2, which had different turret placement rules than the current Tribes versions, and tried to duplicate the setup in the current Tribes versions but were unable to do so. I feel responsible that I did not point out this fact in the description of that demo so I recorded this demo to give them something back. ______________________________________________________________________
