======== SdSvoxjo ======== This is an add-on to SdS, the "Scourge done Slick" movie. Read the enclosed SdSAddOn.txt for more details of how to use add-ons. Check for more details about all the different SdS downloads. --------------------------------------------------------------------- This add-on replaces the original marine vocals recorded by Jason Holtslander with an alternative set by the versatile and vocally talented Joachim Feske. Joachim is the voice of the medic and occasional voiceover in the original SdS. He and Tony Oetzmann recorded these vocals when there was spare studio time and when it was unclear or not whether we would get any from Jason. The recording quality is appreciably better, and the voice is not quite so parody machismo. You may prefer it, you may not. Using the new SdS.bat you will be asked whether or not you want to use this add-on when you start running. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the full audio credits for SdS, courtesy of sound engineer Tony Oetzmann: Computer Voice, Commander, Medic, Enforcer and Secondary Marine vocals recorded by Anthony Oetzmann Primary Marine Vocals performed and recorded by Jason (McClane) Holtslander Qdq voices ("What?! no more running?! No more movies?" and more) performed and recorded by Kenneth Yeung Medic, Voiceover and Secondary Marine vocals performed by Joachim Feske Computer Voice Vocals performed by Martina Streibel (also known as the Mexx10 voice) Enforcer Vocal (played in Hip1m1) performed by Anthony Oetzmann Special vocals performed and recorded by the Levelord ('The Levelord is impressed','You're not supposed to be here') (during Hip3M1 and a *coughsecretcough*) Music by Anthony Oetzmann Secondary Quake2 Done Quick too endmusic (2nd sound pack) (right after 'Trespasser!')music by Muse Kastanovich and band 7 outside sources: - The cheesy jingle music for the QdQ ad in HipStart is taken from the theme music to the BBC TV children's programme "Mr Ben". - The "Raiders of the Lost Ark" music used in Hip1M3 of course comes from the theme to that film. - George's theme music (Hip3M1) is based on a recording of "Colonel Bogey" by some obscure tuba quartet. All Guitar Riffs performed Joachim Feske SoundFX: (outside sources, sampled or contributed by Daemion Carr, Gerald Tan & Thomas Pilger) The sound effects used to signal a rocket-jump and a grenade-jump are both based on samples from "Star Trek: TNG". The sound effect used to signal a grenade-explosion jump off of a nearby monster comes from the TV show "Mr Bean". The sound effect used when we collect cells in Episode 3 is a sample of "The Power" by Snap. The Commander's "Doh!" at the end of the movie intro is of course courtesy of Homer Simpson from "The Simpsons". Big Explosion(just before the 'rewinding' part starts, event/endworld.wav) & Bumphead (Marine rjumps into the ceiling, event/bumphead.wav) by Anthony Oetzmann Vocals and music (except for the outside material) processed by Anthony Oetzmann with Protools24 4.1.1 and Soundforge 4.0. Hardware ----- /* I don't know what Jason and Kenneth used. */ /* I guess they used their soundcard */ Microphones: Neumann TLM171s (Computer voice, Medic, secondary Marine voice & Enforcer) Neumann CMV563 M7 (Commander, Voiceover, Medic & secondary Marine voice) AKG C414 (Computer voice, Voiceover, sec.Marine voice & Medic) Electrovoice RE-27 (Medic, Voiceover, secondary Marine voice) Sennheiser MKH40 (secondary Marine voice) Preamps: Neve 8102 Console preamps & Focus Right Green Range(yeah not Blue) I know only the result counts but I wanted to mention the good mics, preamps and DAT recorders, because it does make a difference, even at a terribly low sample rate such as 11kHz and measly 8 bit sample resolution. (We're sorry, Tony. We promise Q2 will treat you better! - Anthony) Soundcard AD converters just plain SUCK if it's not at least an Audiomedia III. The samples were recorded at 44.1 kHz without compression but the resulting vocals and other fx you hear are heavily edited to suit the loud sounds you find in the original Quake. NiN sure knew what they were doing wit only 8 bit and 11kHz. But hey, fun, fun, fun is the name of the game. Apart from all the fun, working with the QdQ guys has been professional all the way and I hope the sound contributed to your experience of this Quake movie. The soundworks could not have been realised without the exellent script and coordination of Anthony Bailey. Joachim and I can be contacted via email at aronchce@sp.zrz.tu-berlin.de and jfeske@metronet.de For direct contact call +49-(0)30-3138990 (Anthony Oetzmann) I also run the Phase^D Musicgroup Website at http://www.scene.org/phd " and my own little site(still building) at http://members.tripod.com/~aironaudio --------------------------------------------------------------------- Enjoy this alternative take on "Scourge done Slick"!
