I really love feedback. Tell me your honest opinion, please. Description : My first ever Quake 2 level. I tried to make this level as "non-Quake 2 style" as possible by avoiding the usage of the ideas we've seen in Quake 2 on so many occasions, such as those damn dark rooms where you can't really see where you're going... or where you're supposed to go. There are a few things that certainly remind you of Quake 2's levels, but they are not the same. I also tried to use colored lights in a less traditional way. To shortly describe this level, I would say that it includes some similarities to the levels we saw in Doom, and in Doom 2 as well (to me Quake 2 is Doom 3 btw). I think I managed to create something different pretty well, but hey, you tell me what you think! :) This level ain't that big... I started to run out of RAM and hard disk space in the end, which forced me to do a slightly smaller map. QE4 Radiant also started to crash pretty often once I got across the 1000 brush mark... probably due to the fact, that I only have 32 MB RAM. I'm pretty sure that my next Q2 level will be bigger and more complex than this one, and I'll probably switch to Worldcraft 1.6. Additional Credits to : Id software for the nice product. Robert A. Duffy for QE4 Radiant, a pretty nice editor once you learn to use it. :) All the people around the world who've played my levels and told me what they think about them. Matt Sefton, and Iikka Ker„nen for helping me out with QE4 Radiant numerous times! Thanks guys! You've been a great help! Impel Productions development team, you're all great guys! All these following web sites for help and information on Quake 2 level editing: http://www.planetquake.com/rust http://www.planetquake.com/ravage http://www.planetquake.com/qeradiant I'd also like to thank ALL the people who've helped me out or given me valuable information about level editing since I seriously started creating levels at around November '96. Also thanks to all my friends. ===================================================================== ** Play Information ** Single Player : Yes Cooperative : No Deathmatch : Next time... It's been... what, about six months since Area 51? Yea, about six months... a lot has happened in that six months other than the fact, that I got a new hairstyle now. ;) I've been offered a job twice, but I just wasn't lucky enough. Well, actually I had a job, but the company I worked for died... I would have been able to move to the States this year ('98), but because the company went down, my dreams went down the gutter as well. But... life goes on y'know. I'm still looking for a job opportunity, that would give me a chance to show the world who I am. I haven't found such chance yet, but in time it'll come, I'm sure. So, I was offered another job by Remedy Entertainment about the same time as the other company went down. I came very close of getting that job, but in the end I guess my levels weren't quite the right style that the company required. So, I found myself creating free levels again, only this time for Quake 2, and with much more experience about the gaming industry, and about authoring levels of course. :) God I just hope I'll get a job some day as a level designer, that's really all I want to do, and after all, I guess my levels ain't that bad. Or are they? You tell me. :) I think the day will come, I'll just have to be patient... I just hope that the day comes before August, so I don't have to go back to school. I HATE SCHOOL!!!!! :) Ok, I hope you enjoy my work, and please let me know what you think about this level (send an email to hannu.koiste@pp.inet.fi). I really appreciate all the honest and all the constructive feedback you can give me. That way I can improve myself as a level author and do better the next time around. If you out of some reason don't like this map, please tell me what part of the map you didn't like and why you didn't like it. That way, and ONLY that way I can improve myself as an author... I really think I've improved my skills over these last few months a great deal, but I wanna improve them even more, so I can do a better level the next time around, yes, I will do more levels for Q2 in near the future. Thank YOU for downloading my level. I hope you enjoy it!
